All number cards value their card, Faces are all 10 points and an Ace is 1 point only.
At the beginning of the Gin Rummy round, each player get his cards and try to think how to meld them for his best. In order to win the Gin Rummy game, you need to be the first player to meld all your cards or most of them. The top card from the remaining deck of cards is turned up and actually is the start of the discarding cards pile.
The faster you will meld all your cards, its better for you. If you cannot meld them all, try to remain with the lowest value of deadwood cards, unmatched cards. The main reason is that if your online opponent will knock first, you don’t want to be penalty bonus for your high value cards.

Be the first Gin Rummy player to knock with some high value sets and runs, and make sure not to have any deadwood cards, or at least low value unmatched cards, and you are the Gin Rummy round winner.
